East African football fans are uniting behind Uganda Cranes, the only remaining host nation in the African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024, following the elimination of Kenya and Tanzania in the quarterfinals.
The Cranes are set to face Senegal today at 5 pm at Namboole Stadium in a decisive quarterfinal clash. A win would see Uganda become the last host standing in the tournament, carrying the hopes of the region.
Kenya, co-hosting CHAN 2024, exited the tournament after a dramatic penalty shootout loss to Madagascar in Nairobi, following a 1–1 draw in regulation time.
Meanwhile, Tanzania, another co-host, was narrowly defeated 1–0 by Morocco in Dar es Salaam, ending their campaign in the quarterfinals.
These results leave Uganda as the only East African host still in contention, and the Cranes now carry the weight of regional pride as the tournament moves into the semifinals.
CHAN 2024 is the first edition of the tournament to be co-hosted by three East African nations Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.

While Kenya and Tanzania have been eliminated, Uganda continues to represent the host nations’ collective aspirations on the continental stage.
