Nyendo police have arrested four suspects and impounded more than 40 motorcycles suspected to be stolen, following a crackdown on motorcycle theft linked to recent murders in Nyendo Mukungwe.
The recent attacks involved riders being killed and their motorcycles stolen, prompting a swift response from the Masaka East Police Region.
Twaha Kasirye, the Greater Masaka Regional Police spokesperson, confirmed that the operation targeted lodges and garages believed to be involved in criminal activities.
“Nyendo police raided two lodges, Kibata Guest House in Misaali and Copra Guest House in Kayirikiti. Four suspects were arrested, and over 40 motorcycles, suspected to be stolen, were impounded,” Kasirye said.
The recovered motorcycles are currently parked at Nyendo Police as investigations continue to verify their ownership.
Kasirye urged members of the public to report any suspicious activity to assist in curbing the rising cases of motorcycle theft in the region.
