The Commissioner of the National Secretariat for Patriotism Corps, Hellen Seku, has mobilised more than 600,000 trained patriots across Uganda to take part in the upcoming birthday run for the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, scheduled for April 26, 2026.
During a visit to the Patriotic League of Uganda offices in Kampala, Seku highlighted the shared values between NSPC and PLU, emphasising patriotism, unity, and service to the nation. She also purchased run kits in support of the event.
“Patriotism and PLU are close—we are like relatives. I want to thank the Chairman of PLU, General MK, for thinking about Ugandans. It takes a patriotic heart to think about others, especially the needy,” she said.
Seku said the initiative goes beyond celebration, noting that the run promotes charity, health, and national cohesion. She added that such initiatives help strengthen community support systems and encourage a culture of service.
“This run will not only improve our physical well-being but also touch people’s lives. We are promoting good health, hope, and charity so that Ugandans remember leaders who care and take action to support them,” she said.
She called on all trained patriots nationwide to participate, saying they represent a strong force for positive change at the grassroots level.
Seku also commended government for maintaining peace and stability, describing the current environment as conducive for national mobilisation and civic engagement.
She attributed the stability to strong leadership within the security sector, praising Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba for his role in maintaining order.
The Commissioner urged organisers to sustain similar initiatives beyond the run, saying they should continue creating platforms that unite Ugandans and promote a culture of solidarity and care.
The run is expected to take place at Kololo Independence Grounds and attract thousands of participants from across the country in a show of unity, patriotism, and collective responsibility.
“This spirit should not end here—we must continue building activities that remind Ugandans that we care deeply for one another,” she added.
The event is expected to be among the largest patriotic gatherings in recent years, blending celebration with messages of national pride and public service.
