The president of the National Economic Empowerment Dialogue (NEED), Joseph Kabuleta has said he has written to the Electoral Commission complaining over the “theft” of his ‘Money in your pocket’ slogan by Forum for Democratic Change’s Nandala Mafabi.
FDC last week unveiled Mafabi as its flag bearer for the 2026 general elections and at the same time, he unveiled his official poster.
Addressing journalists on Tuesday, Kabuleta said on his official posters, Mafabi used the NEED campaign slogan of ‘Money in your pocket’.
“It is not fine with us for FDC to use our campaign slogan. It is our slogan but it is being plagiarized by FDC’s Nandala Mafabi. ‘Money in your pocket’ was gazetted as NEED’s slogan by the Electoral Commission , which means no body can jump on it to claim it is theirs,” Kabuleta said.
He said his party has written to the Electoral Commission to compel Nandala Mafabi to stay away from the slogan.
“It is gazette as the official NEED slogan and no body can just jump onto it. We have written to EC that they should compel Nandala Mafabi to print other posters with some other slogan which is not gazette but not ‘Money in your pocket’ which gazetted.”
Kabuleta also officially announced his presidential bid for the 2026 general elections.
