Residents, businesses and institutions in Ntinda, Najjera, Bukoto and Kyambogo will today experience a planned power shutdown as Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) carries out scheduled works on its network.
According to UEDCL, the outage affects customers served by the Ntinda Substation and will run from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
The areas affected include Ntinda, Kalinabiri, Kulambiro, Kisaasi, Dungu Zone, Ssebagala Zone, parts of Komamboga, Kisasi–Kyanja Road, Kigowa, Kiwatule, Najjera 1, Najjera 2, Bukoto Trading Centre, Ntinda–Bukoto Road, parts of Naguru, Minister’s Village, Kisota, Bahai, Kyambogo University, parts of Ntinda Industrial Area, Ntinda–Kyambogo Road and Bukoto.
Confirming the shutdown, Jonan Kiiza, the Head of Corporate and Stakeholder Affairs at UEDCL, said the power interruption is part of planned maintenance at the Ntinda Substation.
“UEDCL informs its esteemed customers served by the Ntinda Substation that there will be a planned power shutdown today from 8:00am to 5:00pm,” Kiiza said.
All affected customers are advised to switch off their electrical appliances until power supply is fully restored. Any inconvenience caused is highly regretted.
UEDCL says electricity will be restored once the scheduled works are completed and has urged customers in the affected areas to make the necessary arrangements as power will be unavailable for most of the day.
