The affected stretch runs from Km 3+500 at Ruharo to Km 3+900 near the Buffalo Restaurant roundabout, with repair works focused around Km 3+700 near Woodland Gardens.
Permanent Secretary Bageya Waiswa said the closure is necessary to ensure safety and allow urgent restoration of the road.
“This temporary closure is necessary to ensure safety and to facilitate urgent restoration of the affected section,” she said.
Buses and heavy truck drivers have been advised to use alternative routes.
“Drivers of heavy trucks and buses are advised to use alternative routes via the Mbarara by-pass (at Coca-Cola and Ruti roundabouts) and Ntare-Kyamugurani road for light vehicles to connect back to Mbarara- Ishaka highway and vice-versa,” Waiswa said.
