President Museveni has appointed Mr Lino Anguzu as the new Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), replacing Justice Jane Frances Abodo who was recently appointed principal judge.
The appointment was confirmed on Tuesday by the Senior Press Secretary to the President, Sandor Walusimbi.
Anguzu, who is at the rank of assistant DPP has served the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) for several years .
He has also headed the International Crimes Department but has also prosecuted several high profile cases including the Joan Kagezi murder trial, murder of sheikhs, Besigye treason case, Gen Katumba Wamala assasination attempt, Maj Kiggundu murder and Lugogo 2010 bombings case.
His name has now been forwarded to the Parliament Appointments committee for vetting before assuming his new role.
