President Museveni has emphasized the need for Africa to focus on value addition and regional collaboration to create jobs and retain wealth on the continent.
Museveni made the remarks after hosting Charlene Ruto, daughter of Kenya’s President William Ruto, at State House in Kampala. She was accompanied by her team.
“Maama Janet and I welcomed our Muzzukulu, Charlene Ruto and her team. We discussed areas of cooperation and shared interest,” Museveni said.
He noted that he was pleased with Charlene’s efforts and investment focus in Africa.
“I am pleased that she is investing on the continent. Africa must continue to focus on value addition in order to create jobs and retain wealth within our region,” Museveni stated.
According to the President, their discussions also centered on strengthening ties within the region to expand opportunities for young people.
“We also explored ways of strengthening regional collaboration to create more opportunities for our young people,” he added.
Charlene Ruto described the meeting as insightful and inspirational, saying she benefited from the President’s experience and leadership.
“Had a cheerful and robust engagement with my Ugandan grandparents, H.E. President Yoweri Museveni and H.E. First Lady Janet Museveni, in Kampala today,” she said.
“It was an honour to sit at their feet and learn from their wisdom and experience over the years as I also shared my work on the young people of Kenya, an initiative I will be spreading to other African nations in the near future,” she added.
The meeting highlights growing regional engagement on youth empowerment and economic transformation, particularly through value addition and cross-border collaboration.
