President Museveni has met Cardinal Emmanuel Wamala at State House in Entebbe in a meeting where a number of issues were agreed upon.
In the meeting, Museveni pledged government support to Cardinal Wamala’s family foundation’s Kamagwa Hospital and a new project aimed at preserving the retired cardinal’s legacy.
The meeting took place as Cardinal Wamala marked 99 years, with President Museveni praising him for his lifelong contribution to faith and social transformation in Uganda.
Talking about the meeting, Museveni said they agreed on several key issues, including government support for Wamala’s family-founded hospital and the establishment of a museum to preserve his legacy.
“I was pleased to meet His Eminence Emmanuel Wamala and commend him for his contribution to faith and social transformation in Uganda. We agreed that government will support his family foundation’s Kamagwa Hospital, while it remains a private facility, and that the Ministry of Tourism will support the establishment of a museum to preserve his legacy.”
The President also revealed that he had accepted to personally support the legacy project.
“At his request, I accepted to serve as Patron of the project,” Museveni said.
Museveni concluded by wishing the veteran cleric continued good health and God’s blessings as he celebrated nearly a century of life and service.
“I wish him good health and God’s blessings as he marks 99 years,” he added.
Cardinal Wamala, Uganda’s second Cardinal, remains one of the country’s most respected religious leaders, with the planned museum expected to safeguard his contribution to Uganda’s spiritual, social, and historical development for generations to come.
