President Museveni, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential candidate, is today set to officially launch the party’s 2026–2031 manifesto at Speke Resort Munyonyo.
The launch marks a critical milestone in the NRM’s campaign roadmap ahead of the 2026 general elections, following the President’s recent nomination as the party flag bearer.
The manifesto, presented under the theme “Protecting the Gains,” will outline key commitments and policy priorities to guide Uganda’s transformation agenda over the next five years.
The key policy priorities include: Consolidating peace and security through a stronger UPDF and security agencies, accelerating wealth creation and jobs by deepening commercial agriculture, industrialisation, ICT, and services, nfrastructure development across transport, energy, oil and gas, and digital connectivity, social services transformation in education, healthcare, and social protection, good governance and anti-corruption reforms, regional and international integration to expand trade and partnerships.
The ceremony will be attended by Cabinet Ministers, Members of Parliament, NRM leaders from across the country, and representatives of key sectors, and will also be broadcast live across media platforms to mobilise support for the party’s new vision.
During his nomination rally earlier last week, Museveni gave a glimpse into this vision, insisting the manifesto blends continuity with fresh energy.
“We are moving forward to secure the future of our people. The mission is clear: defend peace, create wealth, and deliver prosperity for every Ugandan household,” he said.
The launch at Munyonyo will set the stage for the official start of Museveni’s campaign trail.
His first rally is slated for Bukalasa playgrounds in Luweero District, a symbolic return to the NRM’s liberation roots.
