Police have launched a manhunt after a gang on boda bodas robbed a man at Nsambya Traffic Lights along Ggaba Road in broad daylight.
In a video circulating on social media, the gang using boda bodas is seen attacking a man who was also on a boda boda, carrying a bag that reportedly contained money he had just withdrawn from a forex bureau.
When the traffic lights stopped, the assailants got off their boda bodas, kicked and beat the man, grabbed the bag, and sped off.
The gang did not spare pedestrians, in the video, one of the suspects is seen kicking a passerby who was carrying a sack.
Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Police Spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police, said police have launched investigations.
“Upon receiving the report, our officers launched investigations. We visited the scene, recorded statements from witnesses, reviewed CCTV footage, and recovered vital evidence to support the ongoing inquiries,” he said.
He added that police have already begun the process of identifying the suspects and vowed to arrest all of them.
“The efforts to identify, trace, and apprehend all the suspects are ongoing,” Owoyesigyire added.
Police is urging anyone with information that could help identify the criminals to come forward and assist in the investigations
“We urge members of the public with information that could assist the investigations to contact the nearest police station or use established police communication channels. Every effort is being made to bring the perpetrators to justice,” he added.
