Musician Fik Gaza has officially crossed over from the National Unity Platform (NUP) to the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).
Best known for his popular collaboration “Banana” with fellow artist Jose Chameleone, Fik Gaza was among several youths who met President Yoweri Museveni earlier today during his Parish Development Model (PDM) and wealth creation tour in Wakiso District.
The artist, who has long been associated with NUP and has made multiple appearances at the party’s offices, surprised many with his sudden political shift.
In past interviews, Fik Gaza openly expressed his support for NUP and its leader Robert Kyagulanyi, alias Bobi Wine, pledging allegiance to the “People Power” movement and its fight for political change.
However, during today’s event, Fik Gaza appeared in full NRM regalia wearing a bright yellow T-shirt printed with President Museveni’s image.
His attire, along with his participation in the event, served as a clear indication of his changed political stance.
He was also among the converts who were paraded before President Museveni from the opposition to the ruling NRM party during his Parish Development Model tour in Kasangati.
A video circulating on social media shows the artist struggling to attract the president’s attention amid the large crowd, but his presence and body language left little doubt about his new alignment.
His transformation from chanting “People Power” slogans to embracing the “Mzee Tova Ku Main” mantra has drawn mixed reactions from fans and political commentators alike.
Fik Gaza’s move reflects a growing trend of Ugandan musicians and entertainers shifting their support from opposition parties to the ruling establishment.
In recent years, the NRM has intensified efforts to win over artists, particularly after Bobi Wine’s entry into politics.
This push has left the music industry deeply divided, with musicians increasingly clashing and turning against each other over political differences.
