At the 72nd edition of the Miss World pageant held in Telangana, India, Natasha Nyonyozi made Uganda proud by emerging as the Beauty With A Purpose Overall Winner for Africa.
Competing among 108 contestants from around the globe, Natasha stood out not only for her elegance but for her powerful humanitarian project; The Nyonyozi Initiative.
Motivated by her younger brother Ethan, who is on the autism spectrum, Natasha’s advocacy work is dedicated to increasing awareness, breaking down stigma, and promoting inclusion for children with autism in Uganda.
Through her initiative, she is leading a transformative conversation around neurodiversity in a society where misinformation and stigma still pose major challenges.
“This is not just an award for me, but it is dedicated to my little brother Ethan and every family that has a special needs child,” Natasha shared. “I feel very honoured and grateful to God, my family, friends, my entire support system.”
In addition to her campaign work, Natasha is also the author of Colours of the Spectrum, a compelling book that brings to light the lived experiences of children with autism and their families. It’s an educational tool aimed at fostering empathy and understanding within communities.
Her heartfelt message on social media captured the emotional significance of her victory.
“God truly outdid Himself with this one! I’m so grateful to Miss World for recognising my project Nyonyozi Initiative and giving me the opportunity to advocate for autism awareness on the world stage. I dedicate this award to my beloved brother Ethan and every individual on the spectrum—the real heroes who show up every day.”
The Miss Uganda Foundation praised Natasha for her remarkable achievement, describing it as a national triumph that signals a turning point in the push for inclusive health and education services in Uganda.
She now joins a distinguished group of continental winners, including Valeria Pérez (Puerto Rico), Monica Kezia Sembiring (Indonesia), and Millie-Mae Adams (Wales), all of whom secured spots in the Top 40 semifinalists at Miss World 2025.
Sharing her excitement, Nyonyozi stated:
“I’m overwhelmed with gratitude and joy! This award isn’t just a recognition of my efforts, but a testament to the impact we can create when we work together towards a common goal.”
Through her project and her platform, Natasha Nyonyozi is not only redefining what it means to be a beauty queen but also championing a cause that touches the lives of countless families.
Her recognition serves as a shining example of how beauty with a purpose continues to be a movement for meaningful change.
