Tensions boiled over at Ntare School on Sunday morning as a violent strike erupted, with students attacking four of their colleagues accused of engaging in homosexual acts.
Headteacher Saul Rwamporo confirmed the incident, saying two of the targeted students managed to outrun the mob. But the unrest quickly shifted focus when the crowd turned on the head prefect, accusing him of shielding the identities of other alleged suspects.

“The safety and well-being of our students is paramount, and such acts of violence undermine the values of education and respect we strive to instill here,” he said.
He assured that all those behind the chaos will be held accountable. “We are cooperating with local authorities to ensure that those responsible face the full consequences of their actions,” Rwamporo added.
In the mayhem, one of the fleeing students was injured and rushed to hospital. The other two were rescued by the school administration before the situation escalated further.
Police were deployed to the campus to quell the disturbance after parts of the school were vandalised. Windows in several buildings including the deputy headteacher’s discipline office and the staffroom were shattered during the strike.
Rwamporo revealed that the school has grappled with cases of homosexuality since 2023 and expressed concern over what he described as a growing trend.
