National Unity Platform president, Robert Kyagulanyi has sacked the deputy party secretary for mobilization in charge of Eastern Uganda.
According to NUP, the sacking followed complaints relating to indiscipline and conflicts amongst the party leaders, especially from Busoga region.
“This followed complaints of indiscipline and persistent conflicts against and amongst some of our leaders,” NUP said in a brief post on social media.
Consequently, Andrew Kiiza Kaluya was appointed Deputy Secretary for Mobilisation (Eastern Region) in acting capacity.
In January this year, Bigiriwa was suspended alongside four other NUP officials.
Others suspended included Andrew Muwanguzi, the acting head of patriotism and ideology, Lulenzi Bamu, the coordinator for Busoga Sub-region, Jamal Ayagalaki Mukuve, the acting coordinator for Youth in Busoga sub-region, and Saulo Nsongambi, the acting district chairperson for Jinja city.
Kyagulanyi explained then that a committee was formed to examine the divisions among the leaders in the sub-region, and the suspensions were intended to restore order within the party.
However, the suspension was later revoked and they were allowed back to serve in their respective positions.
The reasons for the latest sacking are not yet clear but there have been reports relating to blackmail in which Bigirwa was allegedly involved in so as to get money.
