The Special Forces Command (SFC) is celebrating a resounding triumph at the 17th edition of the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Cup, held in Masaka, after emerging overall winners in both marksmanship and football competitions.
The SFC director for operations, Col Philip Mugizi who represented Maj Gen David Mugisha informed the participants that the commander(Gen Mugisha) who was away on official duties was happy with their achievements.
He told them that equally happy ,is the deputy commander, Brig Gen Asaph Mweteise, Brig Gen Paul Namawa , and, all the leaders of SFC.
He congratulated the contingent for their exceptional performance that brought pride to the elite force.
“I appreciate your performance as it made us so proud. I am so happy; the Deputy Commander and the Chief of Staff are also so happy. On behalf of the leadership, we are so happy,” Col Mugizi said while receiving the trophies presented by the team.

He commended the athletes for their commitment and discipline, which he said were instrumental in lifting the SFC flag high.
He also called for broader participation in future competitions, urging continuous training and the inclusion of new faces to further develop the force’s competitive edge.
“We must train as many people as possible to participate. We must see new faces coming up—if we keep maintaining the same people, we shall not develop,” he emphasized.
Outstanding performance in shooting and football
According to Maj Moses Kajimbi, who led the victorious SFC team, the command fielded teams in both the ranger shooting competitions and football, delivering dominant performances across the board.
In the shooting category, SFC scooped numerous awards, including best shooter in Match One and Match Three in the men’s category, best shooter in Match Two, Match Four, and Match Six in the women’s category, best shooters in the moving target competition for both men and women, and the overall range champion title.

On the football pitch, SFC demonstrated discipline, teamwork, and resilience, culminating in a hard-fought victory against the UPDF 3rd Division in the final to secure the coveted football trophy.
“With victories in both range and football, SFC emerged the overall winner of the 17th CDF Cup,” Maj Kajimbi said.
He noted that the CDF Cup is more than just a competition, describing it as a vital platform for sharpening military skills, enhancing combat readiness, and promoting unity within the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).
“For the military, it strengthens cohesion and morale while enhancing combat readiness through marksmanship and physical fitness. For the individual soldier, it develops confidence, discipline, and competitive spirit while instilling pride in representing one’s unit and country,” he added.

The commanding victory, Maj Kajimbi said, reflects SFC’s unwavering commitment to excellence, mirroring the force’s values of professionalism, resilience, and victory.
The CDF Cup continues to serve as a critical forum for showcasing military skill, fostering esprit de corps, and recognizing outstanding performance across the UPDF.
