Pilsner Lager has joined the Kingdom of Tooro this week in a grand celebration marking the 30th Coronation Anniversary of Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, reinforcing a partnership deeply rooted in a shared vision for preserving and celebrating culture.
The multi-day event, held at the Karuzika Palace, celebrated the kingdom’s rich cultural heritage and the Omukama’s three decades of visionary leadership.
The festivities began with a royal tour on Wednesday, led by His Majesty alongside HRH Princess Ruth Nsemere Komuntale Akiiki and Her Royal Majesty Queen Dr. Best Olimi Kemigisa Akiiki. The royal family guided partners and well-wishers through the King Oyo Model Farm and the historic Kiko Tea Plantation.
During Friday’s main event, His Majesty Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV extended his gratitude to all partners for their continued support. He emphasized that such collaborations are essential to achieving the goals outlined in the Tooro Kingdom’s 25-year development plan.
Launched in 2021, the plan focuses on six interconnected pillars: promoting and protecting culture, fostering skills development among the youth, increasing agricultural investment, promoting tourism, conserving the environment and water resources, and improving access to health services.
As the official beer partner, Pilsner Lager played a central role in the Ekyoto Ha Mpango celebrations. The brand established a dedicated Pilsner Cultural Village on the palace grounds, providing a space for guests to engage with the traditions, stories, and cultural spirit of Tooro.
Sheila Sabune, Corporate Relations Director at Uganda Breweries, reaffirmed the brand’s commitment to the kingdom. “We are deeply honoured to be part of this celebration of Omukama Oyo’s 30-year reign,” Sabune said. “Our relationship with Tooro is based on the shared desire to promote cultural preservation, unity, and appreciation of our unique heritage.
This partnership is brought to life here through our Pilsner Lager brand and our participation in the Ekyoto Ha Mpango activities.”
The Fort Portal festivities will conclude with the Ekyoto Ha Mpango Music Festival at Karuzika Palace on Saturday. In a tribute to the Omukama’s 30 years of reign, the concert will be headlined by “The King Herself,” Cindy Sanyu. Talent Africa CEO Ally Alibhai confirmed that the stage will also feature several talented artists from the Tooro region, including Irene Hinda, Atwooki Richie, Muzamiru, and Big Doug.
Pilsner Lager remains committed to supporting cultural institutions and traditions that bring people together across Uganda, while maintaining strong, grassroots partnerships with local communities.
