Political commentator and former presidential advisor Tamale Mirundi dies

Tamale Mirundi, a well-known political commentator and former presidential advisor on media, has passed away. He died at Kisubi Hospital in Kampala, where he had been receiving treatment for an illness in recent weeks.

Mirundi, born in 1964 in Rakai District, Uganda, was a prominent figure in Ugandan politics and media. He served as President Yoweri Museveni’s press secretary for 13 years, from 2002 until 2015, when he was succeeded by Linda Nabusayi.

Mirundi was a distinguished academic, holding a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication and a Master’s Degree in Communication. He was a notable voice in Ugandan media, known for his outspoken views and in-depth analysis.

His passing marks the end of a significant chapter in Ugandan political commentary. His contributions to media and politics will be remembered by many.
