National Unity Platform president, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine has revealed that his family fleed the country for fear of their lives.
Bobi Wine disclosed this in his video address at the 2026 Geneva Summit for Human rights and democracy las even evening.
He noted that their departure of his family was fueled by the recent attack on his family by the security on command of the CDF Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
“They took over my home and surrounded it, and they are occupying my home as we speak right now. My wife and children had to flee the country for fear of their lives,” he said.
Bobi Wine, who said he is currently in hiding, explained that he was forced to leave his home following alleged threats from Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, whom he accused of ordering soldiers to capture him “dead or alive.”
“Museveni’s son, who is also chief of the Ugandan military, issued an order to take me to him, dead or alive,” Bobi Wine said. “The military acted on his order and raided my home.”
He further alleged that security operatives mistreated his family during the operation.
“They tortured my family members, humiliated and undressed my wife, accusing her of hiding me. Meanwhile, they were recording and taking pictures of her, which the military chief later shared on Twitter and bragged about capturing my wife,” he claimed.
According to Bobi Wine, soldiers have since taken control of his residence.
The opposition leader added that going into hiding was not his wish but a matter of survival.
“I am in hiding, but I don’t want to be in hiding. It was necessary, though, so I can stay alive and be able to speak to you right now,” he stated.
