The Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU) has celebrated the country’s leading communication innovators and achievers during the 9th PRAU Excellence Awards, held at Protea Hotel Kampala.
The annual awards, organized under the theme “Recognizing Innovation and Impact in Public Relations,” brought together communication professionals, government officials, media practitioners, corporate leaders, agencies, and experts from allied sectors including marketing and advertising.
PRAU President Irene Nakasiita said the awards were established to acknowledge outstanding work across the country’s public relations landscape and to create a platform for professionals to showcase strategic communication excellence.
“This year, we are not just celebrating winners, but innovators who have redefined what is possible in our profession,” Nakasiita said.
“Their creative and well-thought-out concepts continue to demonstrate that strategic communication is a powerful driver of trust, progress, and transformation.”
She congratulated all winners and finalists for raising professional standards in Uganda’s PR industry.
A total of 13 winners were recognized across 13 categories:
Student Award: Danniella Makiika – Uganda Martyrs University
Young Communicator of the Year: Gaaba Lakel Maria
Best Media Relations and Media Management Campaign: UEDCL
Best Event/Experiential Campaign: MultiChoice Uganda
Best Internal Communication Campaign: Uganda Baati Limited / MAAD McCANN
Best Crisis Communication: Equity Bank Uganda Limited / Capital One Group
Best CSR and ESG Campaign: NCBA Bank
Best Public Affairs Campaign: UEDCL
Best Corporate Communication Campaign: DFCU Bank / Capital One Group
Best Not-for-Profit Campaign: Sauti Plus / Reach a Hand Uganda
Best Social/Digital Communication Campaign: Serene Beauty
Best PR Agency: Node Group
Best Overall PR Campaign: Serene Beauty
PRAU also presented the Lifetime Achievement Award to Sarah Kagingo in recognition of her long-standing contribution to the development and visibility of the public relations profession in Uganda.
The Chief Guest, South African High Commissioner to Uganda, Solly Mollo, congratulated the winners and commended PRAU for sustaining the tradition of recognizing excellence.
He encouraged the association to explore partnerships with the South African High Commission to enhance the visibility of both countries through public relations initiatives.
