Three suspected armed warriors have been arrested in Kaabong District during a joint security operation targeting criminal groups linked to cattle raiding and illegal possession of firearms.
According to Police spokesperson ACP Kituuma Rusoke, security agencies received intelligence on April 17, 2026, at around 5:00pm that a notorious armed suspect believed to be a commander of armed warriors in the area was drinking waragi at Napeikodo Centre in Lomeris Parish, Kaabong West Sub-county.
“Security agencies received intelligence indicating that a notorious armed suspect, believed to be a commander of armed warriors in Kaabong, was drinking waragi at Napeikodo Centre, Lomeris Parish, Kaabong West Sub-county,” Kituuma said.
He said a joint team of the Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU) and the UPDF responded swiftly, leading to the arrest of three suspects.
Among those arrested was Ngora Alinga Lonyangateba, a resident of Morulem Village in Lomeris Parish, who is believed to be a notorious raider and leader of armed warriors in the area.
“During preliminary interrogation, the suspect admitted to possessing a firearm and gave good leads of who was in possession of the rifle,” Kituuma added.
All three suspects were transferred to UPDF 45 Battalion Headquarters in Kaabong for further management and ongoing investigations.
Police said security operations are continuing to recover the firearm and arrest other suspects linked to criminal activities in the area.
