President Museveni has emphasized the crucial role skills play in a country’s development.

He said Uganda’s true path to liberation and prosperity lies not merely in political discourse but in the embrace of technology, practical education, and skills development.

He made these remarks while While launching the Presidential Zonal Industrial Hub in Ntoroko District.

During his three day PDM tour in Rwenzori Sub-Region, Museveni delivered a powerful message on the role of skilling in transforming Uganda, especially for the youth from disadvantaged backgrounds.

“Uganda’s true path to liberation lies not just in politics but in technology, skills, and practical education,” the President declared, calling on Ugandans to move beyond rhetoric and embrace productive action.

He highlighted that in the past, many Ugandans placed faith in speech, song, and prayer alone, forgetting the importance of tangible skills and innovation.

Reflecting on Uganda’s colonial past, he noted that while the country had kings, poets, priests, and witch doctors, it lacked technology something the Europeans used to their advantage.

“During colonial times, we had kings, poets, witch doctors, and priests but no technology. That’s how the Europeans succeeded,” he said.

President Museveni described the skilling hubs as a vital intervention, likening them to salt that gives life flavor.

He pointed out that the hubs are not only free of charge but also offer accommodation, meals, medical care, and hands-on training to young people.

“These skilling hubs are like salt that gives life meaning, especially for youth from poor families. The children who studied here were like food without salt. Now, we have added salt and it is tasteful,” Museveni said, emphasizing the transformation the hubs are creating.

The Presidential Zonal Industrial Hubs are part of a broader strategy by the government to curb unemployment and boost industrial productivity by equipping youth with practical, marketable skills.

As Uganda continues to tackle poverty and unemployment, the message from the President remains unchanged that the country’s future lies not in speeches, but in the hands-on work of its skilled, empowered citizens.
