The UPDF has announced the return of the CDF inter-forces drill competition set to be hosted at Kololo Independence grounds in Kampala.
Deputy UPDF spokesperson, Col Henry Obbo said on Wednesday that the second edition will run from August, 22 to 25 under the theme “Precision, Discipline and Cohesion: Pillars of National Resilience and Transformation.”
He said that while last year, 16 teams participated, the second edition expands to feature over 40 teams and more than 1,400 participants drawn from all UPDF branches and services.
“Junior, senior, and warrant officers, together with other ranks, will showcase sword and crop stick drills, pace sticks, cane sticks, and foot drills. Five top teams will also perform freestyle drill displays, blending Ugandan cultural heritage with military tradition to highlight the UPDF’s identity,” Col Obbo said.
“Therefore, this edition not only presents the traditional individual and team drill routines but also introduces creative elements such as, theme-based drills, formation changes, synchronized displays, music integration, storytelling, and dance elements.”
He said the competition seeks to promote excellence and precision in millitary drill, enhance operational readiness and esprit de corps, strengthen cooperation and friendship among branches and units, and showcase the Force’s enduring traditions and values.
“ Overall, the competition aims to foster discipline, ingenuity, creativity, and teamwork among UPDF personnel while celebrating the force’s rich heritage.”
He noted that the grand finale on August, 25 will be officiated by the Chief of Defence Forces and Special Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
“This event is more than a display of military precision; it is a celebration of national pride, sovereignty, and the UPDF’s unwavering dedication to the Ugandan people.”
