Vipers Sports Club on Saturday won their fourth Uganda Cup title after beating 13-time Uganda Premier League champions, KCCA FC in finals played at the FUFA Stadium, Kadiba in Rubaga division, Kampala .
While KCCA stood in Vipers’ way for season double, their resistance didnt last long, as defender Livingstone Mulondo broke the deadlock only five minutes into the game.
Mulondo capitalised on an Allan Okello freekick to slot the ball to the back of the net to send fans at the newly constructed stadium into frenzy as the Uganda Premier League champions had set the early tone.
Meanwhile, the Kasasiro Boys tried to grow into the game but their efforts didnt pay off .
In the second stanza, Vipers capitalised on a miskick by KCCA FC defender Peter Magambo for Yunus Ssentamu to unleash a scorcher past the helpless KCCA goalkeeper.
The 56th minute volley put the game to bed and sealed KCCA FC’s fate as Vipers went on marching to their fourth Uganda Cup title but also their second season double.
The win by Vipers also ensured KCCA are the first team to lose a game at the newly constructed Kabida Stadium.
