Nation Media Group Uganda (NMG-U), the media company that owns NTV Uganda, the Daily Monitor, Spark TV, and several other outlets, has broken its silence following an overnight military raid that forced the closure of its television, radio, and newspaper operations, saying it will continue informing the public through its digital platforms.
NMG-U said its premises in the Namuwongo Industrial Area and at the Kampala Serena International Conference Centre had been rendered inaccessible following the military operation.
According to the company, the raid occurred at about 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 28, resulting in the disruption of its broadcast and publishing operations.
“The raid, carried out at about 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 28, resulted in electricity disconnection and disruption of normal operations across our platforms on radio, TV and newspapers,” the company said.
Despite the closure of its offices, NMG-U reaffirmed its commitment to serving its audiences.
“While our offices are closed, we will continue to keep you engaged and informed through our digital platforms,” the statement reads.
The company also thanked its readers, viewers, listeners, and stakeholders for their continued support and trust, pledging to provide updates as the situation develops.
Military personnel remain deployed outside the Daily Monitor headquarters in Namuwongo and the Kampala Serena International Conference Centre, where NTV Uganda and Spark TV operate.
The shutdown has affected all Nation Media Group Uganda outlets, including NTV Uganda, Spark TV, Dembe FM, KFM, the Daily Monitor, and The East African.
