Uganda has dispatched a team of 40 Resident District Commissioners (RDCs), their deputies, and assistants to India for an intensive entrepreneurship training designed to boost skills in livelihood generation and socio-economic transformation.
The program, running from September 18 to October 1, 2025, is hosted at the National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD) in Noida.
At the send-off, Indian High Commissioner Upender Singh Rawat highlighted the significance of the collaboration.
He noted that India continues to champion skills development programs for the Global South, strengthening ties with Uganda and other partner nations.
“Uganda remains a true friend to India,” remarked Hajji Yunus Kakande. He explained that the participants play a crucial role in the governance structure:
“These RDCs are field staff representing the President. Enhancing their skills empowers them to mobilize, oversee security and evaluate gov’t programs in their districts.”
The Office of the President disclosed that a similar batch of 40 participants may be considered for future training opportunities.
Meanwhile, Maj. Martha Asiimwe, Senior Presidential Advisor on RDCs, reminded the delegates of the discipline expected of them.
“Respect facilitators, follow rules and learn from India’s advanced programs to drive socio-economic transformation back home,” she urged.
This is the second group of RDCs to undergo the program, following a pioneer cohort of 20 earlier in the year.
Officials say the initiative is part of ongoing efforts to deepen Uganda–India cooperation in entrepreneurship, skills transfer, and livelihood promotion.
