Police in Mubende have arrested a manmasquerading as a doctor at Mubende Regional Referral Hospital.
The suspect, identified as Frank Kyalimpa, is accused of extorting money from patients while posing as a medical professional.
Senior Hospital Administrator Onesmus Kibaya revealed that multiple complaints from patients and caregivers triggered an internal investigation into Kyalimpa’s activities.
“CCTV cameras installed in various parts of the hospital captured Kyalimpa entering wards both day and night, wearing a clinical coat and administering medication to patients,” Kibaya explained.
Hospital staff, acting on the footage and complaints, tracked and arrested Kyalimpa while he was attending to patients in the Women’s Ward.
A search revealed he was carrying cash totaling shs4 million.
Kyalimpa had presented himself as a medical intern from Kampala University. However, the university has denied his claim, confirming that he is not affiliated with their medical program.
Kibaya condemned the suspect’s actions, saying they damage the hospital’s reputation and erode public trust in genuine medical staff.
