The Special Forces Command (SFC) has flagged off its Rangers and football team ahead of the 17th edition of the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Cup Tournament, set for 26th August to 5th September 2025 in Masaka.
The annual tournament will be hosted at Masaka Secondary School playground and other nearby venues, featuring over 20 teams drawn from across the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF). Participants will compete in football, netball, range shooting, tree planting, and other sporting and community-building activities.
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony held on 23rd August at VVIPTS-Sera, Kasenyi, SFC Commander Maj. Gen. David Mugisha urged the athletes to maintain discipline and hard work, both on and off the field.
“SFC has a strong record in past tournaments, and we expect you to uphold that legacy by performing with excellence,” Maj. Gen. Mugisha said.
Brig. Gen. J.B. Asinguza, Commander 1 Special Forces Group, encouraged the teams to approach the competition with professionalism, unity, and courage, noting that SFC must continue to set the standard for the rest of the UPDF.
The CDF Cup remains a flagship UPDF event, fostering discipline, teamwork, and camaraderie among forces while promoting talent development and community engagement.
