The Electoral Commission (EC) has clarified that its main offices are still on the seventh street in the Industrial Area, Kampala, and not at the new site in Lubowa as some people have claimed.
In a statement issued on Friday, Richard Kamugisha Baabo, the Acting Secretary of the Electoral Commission, said some members of the public and stakeholders in the electoral process have been mistakenly visiting the Lubowa site in Wakiso District in search of EC services.
“The Commission has observed that some stakeholders in the electoral process have been visiting Plot 2508, Lubowa, Kigo-Lweza Road, Makindye-Ssabagabo Municipal Council, Wakiso District to access the services of the Electoral Commission,” Kamugisha said.
He clarified that the Lubowa premises were only used as the venue for the nomination of presidential candidates for the 2026 General Elections, and that construction of the Commission’s permanent head offices will take place there in the future.
“Please note that the Lubowa location was solely used as the venue for the nomination of presidential candidates for the 2026 General Elections. This site has also been designated for the construction of the Commission’s permanent Head Offices, a project which is still at preliminary stages,” Kamugisha explained.
He emphasized that the EC’s official and operational offices remain in the Industrial Area, where all inquiries, correspondence, and physical visits should be directed.
“The official and current location of the Electoral Commission Head Offices remains Plot 1-3/5, Seventh Street, Industrial Area, Kampala. All official correspondence, inquiries, and physical visits regarding the Commission’s services should be directed to this address,” he stated.
Kamugisha further cautioned the public against being misled by individuals or offices purporting to represent the Commission elsewhere.
“The Electoral Commission advises the public to take note of the official address and to avoid being misled by unauthorized persons or offices claiming to represent the Commission in other locations,” he warned.
The EC encouraged the public to contact the Commission through its official communication channels, including telephone, toll-free number, email, and social media platforms for any clarification or assistance.
