The Immigration department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has arrested 22 foreign nationals found working without valid permits.
The arrest followed an operation on Kafumbe Mukasa Road on Thursday.
According to Immigration Uganda, the arrested individuals include Chinese, Indians, Somalis, and Egyptians. All of them are expected to face prosecution for violating immigration laws.
“Our enforcement team conducted an operation today on Kafumbe Mukasa Road, resulting in the arrest of 22 foreign nationals, including Chinese, Indians, Somalis, and Egyptians, who were found working without permits. These individuals will be prosecuted,” Immigration Uganda said in a statement.
The department also issued a warning to all foreign nationals residing in the country, urging them to comply with immigration regulations.
“We urge all foreign nationals in the country to legalize their stay by applying online at visas.immigration.go.ug,” the statement added.
The crackdown is part of ongoing efforts by the Uganda Immigration Department to ensure that all foreigners in the country comply with legal requirements, particularly regarding work permits and residency.
