Police have said the death toll in the early morning accident along Masaka Road has risen to seven.
The Saturday morning accident according to the Greater Masaka Police spokesperson, Twaha Kasirye, the accident occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning at Njagalakasayi in Lwengo District.
A Toyota Fielder, registration number UBH 476W, collided head-on with a Fuso truck, registration number UBP 510V.
Kasirye explained that the Toyota Fielder, which was travelling from Masaka towards Mbarara, veered into the opposite lane and crashed into the oncoming Fuso that was heading towards Masaka.
“The impact was fatal and killed all four occupants of the Toyota Fielder on the spot,” Kasirye said.
In a subsequent update, Kasirye said the death toll has risen from four to seven, after three more bodies were recovered.
