The Presidential Press Unit (PPU) has announced the appointment of Hon. Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo as the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs.
According to a letter dated June 22, 2026, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni appointed Kasolo to oversee the ministry in the absence of a substantive minister.
“In exercise of the powers vested in the President by Article 99(1) of the Constitution, I hereby appoint you as Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs in the absence of a substantive minister,” President Museveni stated in the letter.
Kasolo currently serves as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in charge of Regional Cooperation.
The appointment takes immediate effect and will see Kasolo assume the responsibilities of the Foreign Affairs Ministry until a substantive minister is appointed.
President Museveni previously appointed Adonia Ayebare as the foreign affairs minister but he is not yet confirmed until the process of renouncing of his dual citizenship is completed.
