A Kayunga-based TikToker has been remanded to prison over allegations of spreading hate speech and encouraging violence against supporters of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).
Henry Bbosa (35), a truck driver from Nazigo in Kayunga District, was on Monday produced before Nakawa Chief Magistrate Rhoda Acham, where he was charged with spreading hateful information and inciting violence.
Bbosa, who operates a TikTok account under the name “Gen. Taiga”, is accused of posting videos and messages during the election period in which he threatened NRM supporters and warned of violent action if President Yoweri Museveni was declared winner.
Prosecutors told court that between January 2025 and January 2026, Bbosa used his TikTok account @taiga46uu to post messages targeting people from the Banyarwanda and Banyankole communities in different parts of the country, including Kayunga, Kampala and Luweero.
The State says the messages were threatening and had the potential to spark violence between communities.
The prosecution further alleges that Bbosa called for attacks on NRM supporters and destruction of their property through his online posts.
Bbosa’s arrest drew public attention after the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, announced it on social media.
He appeared in court under tight security by officers from the Joint Anti-Terrorism Taskforce (JATJ) .
State Prosecutor Ritah Atukunda told court that investigations are still ongoing and asked for more time to complete the case. Bbosa’s lawyer, Jonathan Erotu, objected, arguing that his client was arrested without informing his family and was being held unlawfully.
However, the court rejected the defence’s argument and ruled that Bbosa should remain in custody.
Magistrate Acham remanded him until February 11, 2026, when his lawyers are expected to apply for bail.
The case adds to growing concerns by authorities about the use of social media to spread hate and incite violence during politically tense periods.
