Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has suspended on-street parking along sections of Kampala Road and Jinja Road as part of efforts to reduce traffic congestion and improve mobility within the Central Business District (CBD).
In a public notice issued on Wednesday, KCCA said the suspension covers parking from the Entebbe Road junction through Kampala Road up to Jinja Road/Yusuf Lule junction near Kitgum House.
“This change has been implemented to improve traffic flow, enhance safety for all road users, and support better mobility within the Central Business District,” KCCA said.
The authority advised motorists to use alternative parking areas, including Station Road, Dewinton Road, Said Barre Road, and Nkrumah Road.
KCCA also encouraged drivers to utilise parking spaces within buildings and private premises where they conduct business, as well as designated off-street facilities such as the National Theatre parking area, Uganda House, and the multi-storey car park along Portal Avenue.
According to KCCA, the changes are part of its broader urban mobility strategy under the “For a Livable City” initiative aimed at creating a safer and more organised transport system.
