Absa Bank Uganda has officially opened a new branch in Nansana, located at Sibyangu Plaza, in a strategic move to expand its national footprint and bring banking services closer to communities.
The branch launch was marked by a high-profile event attended by key players in Uganda’s financial sector, including representatives from the Bank of Uganda, regulatory bodies, local government officials, community leaders, elders, and customers.
Speaking at the ceremony, Moses Rutahigwa, Retail Director at Absa Bank Uganda, said the new branch reflects the bank’s ongoing commitment to accessible and inclusive banking.
“We are excited to extend our comprehensive banking solutions to the people of Nansana,” Rutahigwa stated. “This branch will empower individuals, entrepreneurs, and businesses to achieve their financial goals and reinforces our mission of delivering customer-centric financial solutions across the country.”
Absa Bank Uganda Managing Director, David Wandera, emphasized the broader vision behind the bank’s continued expansion.
“The opening of our Nansana branch reflects our long-term vision to enhance customer experience, simplify banking, and bring financial services closer to the people through strategic touchpoints,” Wandera said. “As we grow our network, we remain committed to promoting financial inclusion and empowering Ugandans to drive economic progress.”
The new Nansana branch will offer a full suite of services, including personal and business banking, savings, financing options, and a modern digital centre. This is part of Absa’s drive to enhance its role as a trusted financial partner in Uganda’s rapidly evolving banking landscape.
Representing the Governor of the Bank of Uganda, Acting Executive Director for Bank Supervision, Mackay Aomu, commended Absa Bank Uganda for its robust operational footprint and technological leadership.
“Absa Bank stands out as one of the top five banks in Uganda, with over 40 branches and 90 ATMs. It continues to demonstrate strong market leadership in digitalisation,” Aomu noted. “We commend the bank for its passionate commitment to financial inclusion, its transparency in management, and its role in setting industry benchmarks for excellence.”
The launch of the Nansana branch further solidifies Absa Bank Uganda’s position as a key driver of financial empowerment and accessibility, aligning with national efforts to extend formal financial services to more Ugandans.
