Two suspected notorious land grabbers have been remanded to prison after being charged with multiple offences linked to the alleged forceful takeover of a 311-acre piece of land in Mukono District.
The suspects, Bonniface Kayongo and Hamuza Kiseka, were arraigned before the Chief Magistrate’s Court in Mukono by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, working jointly with the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).
They were charged with malicious damage to property, destroying growing plants, forcible entry and forcible detainer.
Prosecution alleges that between October and November 2025, the duo, together with others still at large, unlawfully entered land comprised in Block 167, Plot 81 in Kyaggwe at Luwunga Village, Nama Sub-county, Mukono District.
The 311-acre property is registered in the name of Stella Kiwanuka, the administrator of the estate of the late Joseph Musanze Kiwanuka.

They are also accused of uprooting and destroying crops, including maize, cassava, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, banana plantations and eucalyptus trees, with the total value of the destroyed property estimated at about Shs1 billion.
The court remanded the two accused until June 22, 2026, as investigations into the case continue.
