Police have arrested Hoima Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Christopher Aine over allegations of assault.
He is accused of having assaulted one Henry Byabazaire in June this year.
Albertine South Regional Police spokesperson Julius Hakiza said Byabazaire lodged a complaint alleging that Aine assaulted him on June 9, 2026, in the office of the Officer in Charge of the Criminal Investigations Department (OC CID).
Hakiza said the arrest follows investigations and submission of the file to the Resident State Attorney who advised that the suspect be taken to record a statement.
He said Aine is accused of assault and malicious damage to a mobile phone under CRB 317/2026.
Aine has previously been accused of assault of a number of people including police officers.
In 2015, while still the head of security for former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi, Aine was arrested in Jinja over assaulting of police officers who were stopping his boss from holding public rallies in the area.
Mbabazi was preparing to stand against President Museveni in the 2016 general elections.
