President Museveni has appointed veteran broadcaster Allan Kasujja as Executive Director of the Uganda Media Centre, this website has learnt.

In a January, 27, 2026 letter to the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Museveni said he had been informed of some management issues at the Media Centre and consequently had to intervene.

“I have received your letter dated the 27th November, 2025, regarding the Media Centre. I was not aware of the on-going manoeuvres,” Museveni said.

“I have already directed Dr. Chris Baryomunsi to appoint Allan Kasujja as Executive Director of the Media Centre. We can, then, look at the others.”

Kasujja replaces Ofwono Opondo who resigned last year to join elective politics.
Obed Katureebe has been serving in the acting capacity as the Executive Director since Opondo’s resignation.
Biography
Born in 1978, Kasujja spent his first 12 years in Kenya where his family fled to escape the turbulent times durign Idi Amin’s regime.
Beginning his media career in the 1990s at Sanyu FM, he also went on to join Capital FM but also worked on TV.
In 2012 he joined British broadcaster BBC  as one of the regular presenter on Newsday.

He is a personal friend to the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
