Provisional results from the Kampala Lord Mayor election show National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate Ronald Balimwezo Nsubuga in a commanding lead, positioning him for a decisive victory.
With results declared from 2,491 of the 2,705 polling stations, Balimwezo has secured 135,425 votes, far ahead of his closest challenger, NRM’s Moses Kizito Nsubuga, who has 43,099 votes.
The incumbent Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago (PFF), trails in third place with 40,386 votes.
So far, 227,859 valid votes have been counted, alongside 3,319 invalid ballots, indicating a clear outcome as Balimwezo maintains a comfortable and seemingly unassailable lead.
Other candidates, including Beatrice Mao (DP), Kasozi Ibrahim Biribawa (FDC), and independents Nabilah Naggayi Sempala and Yamureebire Jothan, remain far behind.
The latest figures suggest Balimwezo is on course to be declared the next Lord Mayor of Kampala, pending verification of results from the remaining polling stations. However, celebrations within the NUP camp remain restrained as the country awaits the official declaration from the Electoral Commission.
