Express Football Club has appointed Vision Group journalist, Becky Cynthia Nakimera as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
The club says the move is aimed at strengthening its institutional structures and driving long-term growth.
Nakimera assumes the role with immediate effect, taking charge of the club’s strategic direction as Express FC seeks to enhance operational efficiency, improve corporate governance and build a sustainable future for one of Uganda’s oldest football institutions.
In a statement announcing the appointment, the club said Nakimera brings a strong commitment to excellence and a clear vision for advancing the club both on and off the pitch.
As Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Nakimera will lead the implementation of the Club’s strategic
objectives, with a focus on strengthening corporate governance, expanding commercial opportunities, deepening stakeholder and fan engagement, empowering the club’s technical and administrative teams, and fostering a culture of professionalism, accountability, and excellence,” Express FC said in a statement.
The club said her leadership will also be central to promoting a culture of professionalism, accountability and excellence across all levels of the institution.
Express FC’s Board of Directors expressed confidence that Nakimera’s experience and vision will play a key role in advancing the club’s ambitions.
“On behalf of the Board, players, technical team, staff, supporters, fans, partners and the entire Express Football Club family, we warmly welcome Ms Nakimera and look forward to a new era of unity, sustained success and long-term growth under her leadership,” the club said.
The appointment comes as Express FC continues efforts to strengthen its management structures and position itself for greater competitiveness in Ugandan football.
Nakimera, a journalist covering sports for Bukedde TV but also one of the analysts on Vision Group’s platforms recently completed the Football Administration and Management Course (FAMACO II) which focused on strengthening and refining the soft and hard skills needed to succeed in an influential role in the football industry.
The course organised by local football governing body, FUFA aimed ato equip participants with current practical know-how and insights studied in class and the field that is needed to transform the associations and clubs into professional entities.
