Government has handed over 18 new vehicles to regional coordinators under Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) to strengthen the monitoring and supervision of government development programmes across the country.
The fleet, comprising Toyota Hilux pickups, minibuses and Isuzu vehicles, is expected to improve the coordinators’ mobility as they oversee the implementation of programmes including the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga, infrastructure projects and other government interventions.
The vehicles were handed over at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, with OWC Transport Officer Major Moses Muwakanya urging the recipients to use them responsibly and ensure they are properly maintained.
Maj. Muwakanya stressed the importance of road safety, regular servicing and proper vehicle management in line with manufacturers’ guidelines.
The new fleet is expected to enhance OWC’s field operations by improving programme monitoring, accountability and coordination across the regions.
The vehicles will also support efforts to ensure that government-funded programmes reach their intended beneficiaries and contribute to improved household incomes and socio-economic transformation.
