Kabale Painters have been crowned champions of the 2026 Plascon Painters Tournament after defeating Masindi Painters in a dramatic penalty shootout at the Nakivubo War Memorial Grounds.
The closely contested final ended 1-1 in regular time, forcing the match into penalties where Kabale held their nerve to secure victory and claim the 2025/2026 season title.
Organized by Kansai Plascon Uganda, the tournament marked its second edition and demonstrated significant growth, expanding from 16 teams in 2024 to 32 teams this season. A total of 31 matches were played, reflecting rising participation and engagement within Uganda’s painter community.

The competition, which stems from the company’s Painter SACCO initiative, is part of a broader strategy aimed at empowering painters through financial inclusion, skills development, and community building. Over the course of the season, Kansai Plascon established 16 Painter SACCO offices across the country, including one dedicated to women painters, improving access to financial services and work equipment.
Professional standards were maintained throughout the tournament with the involvement of FUFA-certified referees, while collaboration with local authorities enhanced organization and regional participation.
Speaking during the final, Head of Sales Moses Kato said the initiative has evolved beyond sport into a platform for social and professional development.
“The Plascon Painters Tournament has grown into more than just a sporting event—it is a platform for empowerment, connection, and professional growth. We are proud to see painters from across Uganda come together and build lasting relationships,” he said.

The tournament concluded without major disciplinary incidents, highlighting improved professionalism and discipline among participants. Organizers also reported strong digital engagement, with painters maintaining communication through WhatsApp groups beyond match days.
Individual excellence was also recognized, with awards presented for Top Scorer, Most Valuable Player, and Best Goalkeeper, alongside team awards for the winners and runners-up.

Kansai Plascon says it will continue leveraging such initiatives to strengthen its role in community development and support the growth of Uganda’s painting industry.
