Police in Kampala are holding three suspects in connection with alleged possession of government stores and unlawful items, following an intelligence-led operation conducted in Salaama, Makindye Division.
According to police, the operation was carried out in the early hours of 10 June 2026 at about 2:00 a.m. after officers received information that two men suspected of attacking members of the public with pangas were hiding in Zikosoka Zone.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Racheal Kawala said officers swiftly responded to the tip-off and raided the suspected residence, leading to the arrest of three individuals, including two men and one woman.
“Police received credible information that suspects involved in violent attacks were hiding in Salaama. A swift operation was conducted, and three suspects were arrested,” Kawala said.

The suspects have been identified as Muwanga George Makanga, Ahumuza Mashood, and Ishimwe Kethier.
During the search of the premises, officers recovered a backpack containing a toy gun, a metallic torch, a screwdriver, a sensor, a knife, and several test tubes. Police also recovered 10 rounds of live ammunition, which have been secured as exhibits.
Kawala said investigations are ongoing to establish the origin of the ammunition and the circumstances under which the suspects were found with the items.
“The suspects are in custody pending further interrogation as inquiries continue,” she added.
Police say the operation is part of ongoing efforts to crack down on violent crime and illegal possession of weapons within Kampala Metropolitan Area.
Authorities have since intensified patrols and intelligence-led operations in identified crime hotspots across Makindye Division.
