13-time Uganda Premier League champions, KCCA FC have parted ways with captain, Julius Poloto, the Lugogo based side has announced.
The club announced on Saturday it had “mutually” agreed with Poloto to have his contract terminated after 10 years at Lugogo.
“Now, as he mutually parts ways with KCCA FC, the emotions are bittersweet. It marks the end of an era, but not the end of a legacy. The memories will forever be etched in the minds of the KCCA FC faithful,” the club said.
The 10-year journey
Joining the club in 2015 with the KCCA FC Soccer Academy, Poloto would later be among the team of young lads that then coach Mike Mutebi promoted to the senior team in 2017 and would steer a revolution at Lugogo.
Among others were Allan Okello, Mustafa Kiiza, Peter Magambo, Noel Nasasira and Herbert Achai among others.
Poloto was later handed the full captain’s armband in August 2019 but also represented Uganda at the U17, U20, and U23 levels and later the senior team.
He was part of the KCCA FC team that won the Uganda Premier League in 2017 and 2019 and the Uganda Cup in 2017 and 2018.
In the 2018 Uganda Cup final, he scored the lone goal as KCCA FC defeated Vipers to seal the record 10th Uganda Cup.
In tribute to his service to the club, KCCA FC wished Poloto the best in his next journey.
“Julius Poloto will always be the heart of the club, our true son, and a permanent fixture in the great history of KCCA FC.”
