A land dispute in Kitukutwe, Kira Municipality, has prompted a petition to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, with citizens calling for an investigation into allegations of interference and abuse of authority involving the State House Anti-Corruption Unit.
The petition centres on Sanyu Edisa, an elderly woman who claims ownership of family land in Kyadondo Block 180, where she has been engaged in a legal battle for several years.
According to the petition, Edisa’s claim was affirmed by the High Court Land Division through a consent judgment issued on April 2, 2026.
The petitioners argue that the ruling recognised her as the lawful beneficiary of the property and directed the transfer of subdivided titles into her name.
“After years of court battles, justice appeared to have been achieved. However, we are concerned that some individuals are attempting to defeat those decisions outside the courtroom,” the petitioners said.
They also point to a directive issued by the Deputy RDC of Kira Municipality in September 2025, which they say cautioned against eviction or violence without a valid court order and clearance through relevant authorities.
The petitioners further claim that previous legal attempts by other parties to establish ownership rights had been dismissed by court.
However, they accuse some individuals involved in the dispute of continuing efforts to challenge Edisa’s ownership, alleging that officers attached to the State House Anti-Corruption Unit have become involved despite existing court decisions.
“The role of anti-corruption institutions is to defend justice and accountability. Any action that appears to undermine lawful court decisions must be investigated,” the petition stated.
The group has asked President Museveni to ensure Edisa’s safety, investigate the conduct of officers mentioned in the allegations, and establish whether any wrongdoing occurred.
They also want authorities to ensure that all parties respect court decisions and that any further claims over the land are handled through lawful channels.
“Citizens must have confidence that courts remain the final place for justice and that their decisions cannot simply be ignored,” the petitioners said.
The State House Anti-Corruption Unit and other parties named in the petition had not issued a response to the allegations by the time of publication.
