Family members have confirmed that Maj. Gen. Sabiiti Muzeyi, the former Deputy Inspector General of Police (IGP), is out of danger following a serious road accident in Sembabule District on Saturday.
Maj. Gen. Sabiiti was reportedly returning from Kiruhura District, where he had attended the giveaway ceremony of Nsasiirwe Keinembabazi, a granddaughter of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, when the accident occurred.
Emergency responders rushed him from the scene, after which he was airlifted to Kampala by helicopter and admitted to Nakasero Hospital for intensive medical care.
While the exact cause of the crash remains under investigation, preliminary reports indicate that the senior military officer sustained multiple injuries. Despite the severity, his condition has since stabilised.
Family sources say that Maj. Gen. Sabiiti, who currently serves as the General Manager of Luwero Industries, a subsidiary of the National Enterprise Corporation (NEC), is now recovering well. Other occupants of the vehicle are also reported to be recuperating steadily.
Maj. Gen. Sabiiti is widely respected for his disciplined service in the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF). He served as Deputy IGP from 2018 to 2020, and previously as the Commander of the Military Police, roles in which he earned a reputation as one of the force’s most trusted and professional officers.
