Nation Media Group (NMG) Uganda has resumed operations, marking the return of NTV Uganda, Daily Monitor, SparkTV and its other media platforms one month after they were shut down on orders of CDF Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, NMG said services across its television, radio, print and digital platforms would be restored progressively as the company completes the necessary operational arrangements.
“Our services across television, print, radio and digital will be restored progressively as we complete the necessary operational arrangements,” the company said.
NMG Chairman Joe Muganda thanked audiences, clients and partners for their patience and continued support during the disruption.
“We appreciate the patience and understanding shown by our audiences, clients and partners during this period and appreciate your continued trust and confidence in our brands,” Muganda said.
He added that the company’s focus remains on delivering trusted and balanced journalism as operations resume.
The reopening follows the shutdown of NTV Uganda, Daily Monitor, Spark TV, KFM, Dembe FM, Ennyanda and The EastAfrican on the night of June 28, 2026.
In a separate statement, Taifa Group, the majority shareholder of Nation Media Group through its subsidiary Taarifa Limited, said the resumption of operations followed authorisation by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
Taifa Group Chairman Rostam Azizi thanked President Museveni for authorising the reopening and expressed gratitude to Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba for his support during engagements that led to the decision.
Muganda said NMG’s immediate priority is to rebuild its presence in Uganda, reconnect with audiences, restore its platforms responsibly, strengthen local content and continue providing credible journalism across print, broadcast and digital channels.
