Mubarak Sekikubo, the LCIII Chairperson of Nakisunga Sub-County, has been remanded to prison over allegations of selling government jobs.
Sekikubo appeared before the Mukono Chief Magistrate’s Court on Monday, where he was charged with Obtaining Money by False Pretence and Conspiracy to Defraud. He is expected to return to court on November 4, 2025.
According to the Anti-Corruption Unit, Sekikubo allegedly conspired with Mugerwa Ronald Saaku, the Probation and Welfare Officer of Lugazi Municipality, and Dr. Wataba Saadi, who remains at large, to defraud a job applicant, Dr. Mukisa George William, of shs38 million.
The trio reportedly claimed they could secure Dr. Mukisa a position as a Medical Officer in Mukono District, saying the money would be used to “facilitate” members of the Mukono District Service Commission a claim investigators say was false.
“The accused allegedly conspired to defraud a job applicant of shs38,000,000 by falsely claiming they could secure him a government job,” the Anti-Corruption Unit stated.
Sekikubo was arraigned by the Anti-Corruption Unit, working in collaboration with the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).
Authorities have revealed that this case could be part of a broader network of extortion, involving other job seekers who were reportedly defrauded by the same group in connection with some Commission members.
Investigations into additional related cases are ongoing.
