President Museveni has concluded his PDM tour of the Tooro region with a rally in Kitagwenda District, where he commended residents for their dedication to peace and national stability.
“I want to thank the people of Kitagwenda for their commitment to peace and rejection of rebellion. It’s through our collective efforts that we have maintained stability in our communities,” President Museveni said, addressing hundreds of enthusiastic supporters.
The President emphasized that the National Resistance Movement (NRM) remains focused on inclusive development.
“The NRM has prioritised politics of interest, empowering all our people regardless of religion or tribe,” he noted.
A central theme of his message was the importance of improving household incomes as a driver of long-term development. “While infrastructure like roads and electricity is vital, financial stability must start at the household level,” Museveni stressed. “The crucial role of homestead income in uplifting families cannot be ignored.”
He pointed to the Parish Development Model (PDM) as a transformative intervention to fight poverty. “The PDM is a key solution to getting our people out of poverty. We are providing 100 million shillings annually to each parish so that every household can engage in income-generating activities,” he said.
On the education front, the President reaffirmed his government’s continued investment in free education. “We shall announce plans for more teacher recruitment and classroom construction. Education is a right and a foundation for our country’s future,” Museveni affirmed.
The rally capped off a tour aimed at strengthening grassroots engagement and reaffirming the government’s focus on peace, prosperity, and inclusive growth.
