President Museveni, who is also the commander in chief of the armed forces in Uganda has made several changes within the Special Forces Command.
The changes announced on Thursday afternoon saw Col Allan Matsiko appointed the 303 brigade commander.
Matsko was until August, 2022 a Lieutenant Colonel and manager security at Entebbe Airport .
He was consequently promoted to Colonel and appointed director for intelligence in SFC, a position he has been serving in prior to his latest appointment.
In the Thursday changes, the president also appointed Col John Bosco Asinguza as the new commander for Special Forces Group One .
He is also still serving as the Director of Training in the Special Forces Command.
The commander in chief in the changes, promoted Lt Col Bagonza to colonel and appointed him the commander of Special Forces Group two .
Special Forces Group two was previously commanded by Col Nathan Nabimanya.
In the changes, Lt Col Duncan Kafeero has been mainatined as a deputy director.
The Special Forces Command(SFC) is an elite unit of the UPDF responsible for the security of the President of Uganda and members of the first family.
SFC as a specialized component of the UPDF is also tasked with carrying out specialized missions or operations at a moment’s notice.
SFC is also responsible for carried out special operations on behalf of the Ugandan army but also protecting key installations in the country.
